Council Chair Welcome
The Joint Admission Medical Program (JAMP) is a unique program, created by the Texas
Legislature to provide support and encouragement for economically disadvantaged students
from across the State of Texas to successfully matriculate into medical school and
pursue a career in medicine.
The program is a joint effort between the medical schools and the public and private
universities of Texas. JAMP assists students in acquiring the skills and knowledge
to be successful by providing mentoring, summer enrichment programs including clinical
preceptorships at one of the Texas medicals schools, scholarships, and ultimately,
acceptance to one of the Texas medical schools.
The first group of undergraduate students joined JAMP in 2003 and entered medical
school in 2006. They have now completed medical school and residency training and
are now pursuing careers in medical practice.
If you have an interest in becoming a physician, I strongly encourage you to look into what JAMP has to offer you. It will provide you with valuable academic and personal assistance as you prepare to enter the medical profession. Information about qualifications, the application, important deadlines, program requirements and additional information are available through the student section above. Thank you for your interest in JAMP.
