JAMP Application Guide
Welcome to JAMP!
Dear Prospective JAMP Scholar,
The Joint Admission Medical Program (JAMP) is a workforce pipeline program, created
by the Texas Legislature to provide support and encouragement for highly qualified economically
disadvantaged students from across the State of Texas to successfully matriculate into medical school
and pursue a career in medicine.
The program is a joint effort between the medical schools and the public and private
universities of Texas. JAMP assists students in acquiring the skills and knowledge to be successful by
providing mentoring, summer enrichment programs including clinical preceptorships at one of
the Texas medical schools, scholarships, and ultimately, acceptance to one of the Texas medical
schools.
The first group of undergraduate students joined JAMP in 2003 and entered medical
school in 2006. They have now completed medical school and residency training and are now pursuing
careers in medical practice. If you have an interest in becoming a physician, we strongly encourage
you to lookinto what JAMP has to offer you.
This Application Handbook was created by the Joint Admission Medical Program Administrative
Office to assist applicants in completing the application for the 2025 entering class. Reading
and following these directions will grant insight into the application process and make completing
the application much easier. As an applicant, it is your responsibility to read, understand, and follow
all JAMP instructions throughout the application process.
Remember, your JAMP Faculty Director is there to help! If you haven’t met them already,
make sure you set an appointment with them as soon as possible. You can find their contact
information on our website or by clicking here.
Thank you for your interest in JAMP and we wish you the best!
Sincerely,
The JAMP Team
